SORAYA — THE STORY BEHIND THE COLLECTION
Soraya is more than a collection.
It is a tribute to Soraya Khanum — my mother, my guiding light, and the woman whose creativity shaped my journey as a designer.
The word Soraya comes from Persian and refers to the Pleiades — a cluster of seven stars known for their radiance and symbolism of guidance, protection, and inspiration. Just like those stars, my mother illuminated my path with her strength, grace, and artistry.
Growing up, I watched her making each corner of our home with her artistic hands and stitching our dresses with love and innovative ideas. I remember to be proud in my long maxi dresses stitched with frills that no one else had in my friend circle.
She stitched, crocheted, and embroidered with a softness that felt like painting. Even everyday items carried her artistic touch. Her creativity wasn’t taught — it was lived. And as a child, I would sit beside her while she stitched my dresses. She listened to my ideas, encouraged my imagination, and allowed me to design alongside her. Those moments became the foundation of my love for fashion.
The Soraya Collection carries the spirit she embodied:
creativity with grace, beauty with strength, and craftsmanship rooted in love.
Each piece reflects her influence — the delicacy of her embroidery, the elegance she brought to simple things, and the quiet confidence she instilled in me.
This collection is my way of honoring her legacy and inviting others to celebrate the women who guide them.
May Soraya remind us all to cherish the mothers who show us the way — like stars that continue to shine long after the night has passed.
